Description

Designed exclusively for Walden’s School of Counseling faculty, this program builds on the foundational knowledge covered in the “School of Counseling Skills Assessment Training.” In this second part of the training series, faculty will actively engage in practicing counseling microskills introduced in the initial session. Through structured skills simulations, participants will enhance their ability to apply these skills in practice. Additionally, faculty will gain insight into the student experience by engaging in the process of skill demonstration themselves. The training aims to improve individual proficiency and promote consistent, reliable assessment by aligning demonstrations with the School of Counseling’s developmental counseling skills framework.

What You Will Learn

Upon successful completion of this activity, attendees will:

  • Practice demonstrating key microskills from the School of Counseling’s developmental framework in simulated counseling scenarios.
  • Experience the skill demonstration process from a student’s perspective to better understand learner challenges and expectations.
  • Strengthen inter-rater reliability through applied practice and alignment with shared assessment criteria.
